Abandoned at a Train Station: France

Sarah and I spent an incredible week in France full of riverside picnics and street lights and soft music and crepes and long walks and getting lost on the way to Versailles. Wait? Yeah, we really did get lost on the way from Paris to Versailles.

We had started the day early and effortlessly (questionable) navigated the subway system until we were on the train that we thought was headed straight for Versailles. All was looking good until the train stopped, the doors opened, and we were left looking at this:

Not exactly what we thought Versailles looked like…

Not exactly what we thought Versailles looked like…

Once we realized that this was not in fact our station we were happy to see that there were a few other people in our situation. We looked at the map and discovered we were only 2 stops away from Versailles. We bought our tickets and hopped on the next train 15 minutes later. As much as our creepy, foggy, abandoned train station was a little scary at first we realized it was all part of the adventure! And in the end we made it to beautiful Versailles…

Sarah and I spent hours strolling through the palace and gardens admiring the architecture and artwork. The Gardens at Versailles are the most. peaceful place I’ve ever been. I’m sure we could’ve spent the whole rest of the trip talking there, but we had to start headed back to Paris just in case we got lost on the way home too…
